Refraction/ Snell’s Law

Rate of Refraction

1. When travelling from a fast medium to a slow medium , light moves towards the normal

2. When travelling from a slower medium to a fast medium, light moves away form the normal

Index Of Refraction

Index of Refraction- s characteristic property for a medium, which decreases the speed of light ; represented by a number

V = C/N

n= index of refraction

c= speed of light  in vacuum

n=speed of light in medium

Snell’s Law

States the relationship between angle of incidence and the angle of refraction when refraction occurs

n1sini = n2sinr

i = incidence angle

r = refraction angle
